Printing Postscript Files

Netscape provides two options for printing postscript files:

  1. Print Directly to a Print Device
  2. Print to a File

Once either of these options is configured within Netscape, it will remain in effect, within your directory, each time Netscape is run.


Configuring Netscape

  1. select OPTIONS from the menu bar
  2. select General Preferences
  3. select Helpers
  4. move through items and select "application/postscript gsview32 "
  5. select either
    • Save to Disk: saves file to file name specified
    • Launch Application: sends file to local printer
  6. select OK


Print Directly to a Print Device

  1. click on the PS icon
  2. GSview will be launched, loading the appropriate file
  3. move the cursor to FILE and select PRINT
  4. from the printer setup menu
    • under DEVICE select mswinpr2
    • select All Pages
    • under QUEUE select the appropriate printer
    • select OK

Note: Printing in this manner can be slow on the Polaris system, you may wish to print to a file and then print the file using the laser command on Polaris.


Print to a File

  1. click on PS icon
  2. under the Save As menu, save the postscript file to your directory
  3. print the file to a local printer
